Dining Facilities and Hours

Dining Services will serve meals in Dana, Roberts, and Foss. Schedules are available on the Dining Services website, and updates will be provided on ColbyNow. We are hopeful that dine-in service will be possible for most of the semester, though there will likely be times that only takeout will be available.

The popular Take-4 lunch option has expanded to include breakfast and dinner meal options and has moved from the Caporale Lounge to the Joseph Family Spa. The Take-4 program is open 8 a.m.-9 p.m. during the week and noon-9 p.m. on weekends.

A late-night retail menu option is available in the Spa beginning at 9 p.m.

Colby conducted an extensive analysis of seating capacities in all three dining halls to comply with Maine CDC guidance, including a minimum six-foot separation between tables and no more than eight diners at a table. This required removal of a significant number of tables and chairs in each hall with revised capacity at about 64 percent of previous capacity. To offset much of this loss, the College has set up extra dining areas outside of Dana and Roberts to provide additional seating capacity.

Meal Swipes

Students have access to four swipes per day. In the coming weeks the College will likely shift—to unlimited swipes—and will inform students when that becomes available.

Dine-In Service

The following practices have been employed in the dining halls:

  • Students are required to wear face coverings at all times and may only remove them when eating

  • During the spring semester, takeout is available at Foss Dining Hall

  • Additional seating is available in dining areas outside of Dana and Foss and in other spaces on campus, including in Cotter Union

  • Signage directs customers through the dining halls and queuing areas

  • Hand-sanitizing stations are available at all dining service entrances

  • Meals are served or packaged by dining staff for dine-in or takeout. No self-service is allowed.

  • All high-touch areas are thoroughly and frequently cleaned according to CDC recommendations

  • Table cards indicate that tables have been cleaned and sanitized

  • Reusable mugs, water bottles, and containers may not be used in the dining areas, for now

  • Guests are not permitted to dine on campus

  • Students may review the menus before visiting a dining hall or sign up for daily menu-mail

Takeout Only

There may be times when only takeout is available. During these times, takeout meals will be available in the dining halls as well as in the Spa.

  • All food and beverages will be packaged for takeout

  • Students may not dine in, nor may they gather or congregate in the dining halls

  • Access to dining halls to pick up takeout may be by reservation only to prevent crowding at pick-up time. Information about Dining Services’ new Transact mobile ordering app is now available. 

Meal Plans and Payments

  • Student Meal Plans
    The College offers a board plan of 21 meals per week, which allows students one meal swipe per meal period in any dining hall during posted hours.

  • Faculty/Staff Lunch Meal Plan The College offers a block of 10 lunch meals for $50. To purchase a meal plan, visit the Dining Services office in Roberts Hall, lower level, or send a check through campus mail.

  • ColbyCash Money may be added to a campus ID card, and the cashier will swipe the card. Directions for adding to a Colby ID can be found at ColbyCashs.

  • Credit/debit cards will be accepted

  • Cash will not be accepted until further notice

Hours of Operation

Colby Museum of Art

The Colby College Museum of Art will be open to the public beginning June 4. Click here for guidelines and hours. 

Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center

Daily, 6 a.m. -11 p.m.

The Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center is only accessible to members of the Colby community who have a valid Colby College ID. The facility is not open to visitors or to the general public.


Miller Library is the hub for all library activities.

Miller Library hours for the spring semester through May 19, barring any changes to our campus operations, are as follows:  

  • Sundays through Thursdays:
    10 a.m.-11 p.m.
  • Fridays and Saturdays:
    10 a.m.-6 p.m. 

Miller Library’s open hours will allow students in-library study time while ensuring that the library has staffing necessary for the delivery of essential services. Reduced seating in Miller was carefully designed by adapting CDC guidelines for reducing seating capacity and configuring learning spaces.

The Bixler Media Lab will be available for classes by appointment and as an open lab, otherwise, during Miller Library open hours. To request materials from Bixler and Olin, search for the item in CBBCat and click the CBB Request link. Materials will be delivered and available for pick up in Miller Library.

Information and changes within the Libraries will be communicated via ColbyNow, its social media platforms (Instagram and Twitter), and its website.

Office of Admissions

The Admissions Office will begin offering tours to prospective students and their families beginning June 14. These programs will operate out of the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center lobby to take advantage of that facility’s spaces and dedicated parking. Tours have been designed to minimize interaction with employees and residential program guests.
